I'm sure you have all heard of bidding robots. A number of penny auction sites have bidding assistance with varying names from bid buddy, bid butler, bid robot, bid sniper and more. These bidding assistants can be quite helpful to anyone who wants to compete in the penny auction game. These bidding robots help automate the clicks that bidders will use on penny auction sites and thus help the user win more penny auctions. As the penny auction industry grows customers are becoming more and more competitive. Sites like BidRivals, Quibids and Swoopo have thousands of visitors a day. Software like bidding robots can give bidders a competitive edge.

A company called Chikiwawa just released a new software called Bid Sniper. These software is a desktop application that can even be used on sites that do not have a bid assistant set up.

Penny Auctions - Past, Present and Future

I am sure most of my blog readers are just like me. I have been following and shopping on penny auction sites for two years now. I have seen a lot in the past two years. The industry started small with companies like Swoopo, BidCactus, Quibids, and more. Then it grew so fast in 2010 with seriously over 300 new penny auction sites. With a tough competitive market hundreds of penny auction sites went out of business in 2010 also. You can see this list on my closed sites tab. During 2010 sites grew in populatrity. Websites like Quibids sold thousands of items a day. Some customers imbraced penny auctions while others thought these sites were a scam. Now with several sites having lawsuits including Quibids and others, what is the future of penny auctions? Will penny sites be federally regulated? I love these penny sites and I hope they stick around. Some will continue to go out of business but the strong will remain. I hope the government does not regulate the penny bidding sites. Let the invisible hand regulate them. Customers can determine who stays and who doesn't depending on where they shop. These bidding sites will still continue as they offer deep discounts where you can buy electronics, Apple products, concert tickets, gift cards, and more for just pennies.

Changes to BidFire - Temporarily Closing

BidFire announced on their blog yesterday that they will be having a new phase to BidFire. They will be slowing down their current auctions to phase themselves out in order to rebuild and restructure the "new" BidFire. Their site will be temporarily closing until future notice. Personally, I have seen a lot of penny auction sites do this. They close their site to reformat and rebuild. However, these sites never return. I really hope this is not the case with BidFire. I really like BidFire's site. The last auction on BidFire will be on Sunday so hurry up and use your bids. Auctions will now only run nightly starting at 5:30 PT. I don't really feel like this gives many people enough time to use all their bids but at least BidFire has given some warning unlike most penny auction sites that close.
