Comments: I love the BidPig logo and the varity of cartoon pigs. The charactors makes the site a little more exciting than the typical penny auction site. BidPig offers a number of different types of auctions including: Pigpenny, Hog Free, Piglet, 100% off, Fixed Price, Open, Lunch Break, PiggyPalooza, and Reserved Auctions. One thing I do not like about BidPigs is that you can only purchase bids via PayPal. However, I do love the points store. You can earn points while participating in auctions and then use those points to purchase products from BidPig's store. The only method of contact is via email. The response time is within 24 hours, which is much faster than other companies. However, I would like to see at least 2 forms of contact. I would also like to see a greater verity of products in their auctions. It seems that BidPigs sells mostly bid packs and gift cards.

Comments: My initial beef with Centy24 is that the name is very similar to Centry21, each time I type the web address I have to stop myself from typing Centry21. Next, the only means of contact for the company is via email. I like to see penny auction sites offer at least 2 modes of contact. The pricing on Centy24 is also very strange. Bids range from $1.00 per bid to $0.40 per bid and the ramp up is steep. I don't think someone with a business background created the price structure. Customers also can only purchase bid packages using PayPal. This can be a red flag. The site might not offer credit cards because they cannot afford merchandising fees. The grammar used and the web format also seems very amateur.

Comments: For10Cents.com has the cheapest prices in the penny auction industry. The site was recently updated and I love the new look. For10Cents offers Bid Back auctions where at any time the bidder can buy the item at retail price and apply their bids to their purchase. Not every auction allows you to buy the item at retail price, however with bids at only $0.10 - $0.15 there is no need to worry. Products include baby items, gift cards, electronics, home items, and video games.

So how do you up your chances of winning an auction?  As we have researched and examined thousands of auctions that have been conducted on QuiBids, we have learned several things that can increase a person’s chance of winning an auction.  The first main thing that we have learned is:

The QuiBids customers that win the most auctions are the ones who spend the most bids in their pursuit of winning.

Most people’s first question after learning this is, “How are they able to confidently spend so many bids?  Isn’t it possible that they will just lose all that money?”  The answer to this question is actually fairly simple and it is related to the second main thing we have learned about winning an auction.

The QuiBids customers that have the most success are the ones that are willing to exercise the “Buy it Now” feature if they do not win the auction.

The customers who are the most successful at QuiBids are the ones who pick out products that they would be willing to pay full retail price for.  Then they bid on those items for a chance to win them far below retail price.  As a result of their willingness to go all the way they usually have a very high chance of actually winning the item.

The QuiBids customers that have the least success are the ones that have unrealistic goals and are unwilling to pay more than a small fraction of the actual retail cost of an item in bids.

Even if you are unsuccessful in winning an item, you can still apply any of the bids that you have used towards that item and still buy it for a price that is comparable to what you would pay at a local retailer.  It is a fun and risk-free way to do your holiday shopping.  However, many customers don’t ever consider using the “Buy it Now” feature.  Instead, they are interested in spending $20 trying to win a $1500 Apple Macbook.  Although it is possible for someone to win the Apple Macbook with $20 in bids, it’s highly unlikely.  This is an unrealistic expectation that certain customers have.  We encourage everyone to set a realistic expectation of how much time and financial investment is necessary to win a big ticket item.

Comments: Wavee is an ascetically pleasing penny auction site. The creators of the site definitely put a lot of thought into the site look and feel. There are wonderful bidding options for the customers including but not limited to Buy It Now, Bid Bots, and Halo Bids. Wavee has multiple auctions with product verity from gift cards to electronics. Wavee is easy to contact via email, phone, and mail. However, through multiple forum posts, it has come to my attention that Wavee has poor customer service and may be using shills.

Comments:  ABCPennyAuctions has a professional feel. I like the organization of the site. The site mostly offers gift cards and only a handful of auctions at a time. I would like to see a greater verity of items as the site grows. The site also could improve by investing in better flash.  I do however love the fact that the site posts contact information on the main page.

Comments: Although the Bid Moo cow is cute, the site definately needs some work. For starters, I could not find any point of contact for the company. For this reason, I would not recommend buying from this site. Next, on the About Us page it reads, "We became interested in Penny Auctions first but we found out that it costs a huge amount of money to survive, we calculated you need minimum $15,000 to start a penny auction just to last for a year.  We realized the best  way to last was to create a website that starts below retail and goes Down not up!  We are in it for the long run, not just this year. " This tells me that Bid Moo does not even have $15,000 backing itself up. The site seems very amiture and unprofessional. I do like the concept of a dropping price and "scratching." However, it does not seem that the creators put much more work into the site beyond the concept.

Comments: Haggle offers beginner auctions which are a big plus for those new to Haggle.com. They also offer 20 free bids if you refer a friend and he or she registers and purchases bids. Haggle has the buy it now feature on only select auctions. I would like to see that feature on all auctions. Haggle provides a varity of auctioned items, but I would like to see an increased number of auctions each day.
