Bid Penny Review:
Site: 6.0 / 10
Customer Support: 6.0 / 10
Products: 9.3 / 10
Comments: LuckyBossBids has a combination of great options for their buyers including Buy It Now, Auto Bidders, and Mega Boss Auctions. I love the concept of the Mega Boss Auctions. The Mega Boss Auction is
2 minutes long and the bidder that bids most in the 2 minute period is
the winner. I would like to see that on more penny auction sites. The site offers a variety of unique and desirable products including: gift cards, shake weights, bike gear, childrens toys, and electronics. Since the site is brand new they are offering a lot of bid pack promotions. Through LuckyBossBid's website you can only contact the company via email. However, I did contact the company through their facebook page and got a reply within hours. I should warn though that while looking over the site, it did seem that there were shills / auto bidders. Check it out for yourself before bidding.

Bid Penny Review:
Site: 6.2 / 10
Customer Support: 8.9 / 10
Products: 7.9 / 10
Comments: BidNabbit auctions mostly electronics, gift cards, and bid packs. This is industry standard. The site limits customers to 2 wins each day (one gift card and one other item). One thing I do not like about the site is that it shows vulnerability. On their news page they state that they are very new to the industry and have a small client base. It would be easier to bid in confidence on a site that is confident in themselves. However, the site does offer Buy It Now. Bidders can choose to apply their bid's cash value towards the purchase of the product at retail price. Shipping and handling fees are applied to the final bidding price and vary by item. BidNabbit was created in 2010 and it is apparient through the site design and content. I assume this will improve as the site ages.

I visited BidNabbit.com and it does not appear to be in business. All of the links that I clicked on gave me an error that the page could not be found.

Bid Penny Review:
Site: 1.3 / 10
Customer Support: 6.8 / 10
Products: 8.0 / 10
Comments:BidWinFlip's website has some technical problems on their Help page. Also, many of the links do not work. Their graphics are amateur. There is only one method of contact via email. The site does however offer a good verity of products.
*The prices vary and are sold in packages. The price structure is difficult because each package is set up as a special. It is hard to determine the price behind the package.

Customer Support: 6.8 / 10
Products: 9.5 / 10
Comments: Let'sGoBidding.com offers a variety of products including gift cards, bid packs, home goods, and electronics. The only method of contact is email. I would like to see at least two methods of contact. The FAQ portion of the site is very informative and one of the best FAQ pages I've seen.
LetsGoBidding is going out of business. Their last auction will be on Sunday January 30th 2011. This is very sad but one of the realities of the penny auction industry.

Starting a Penny Auction Site
Think Big, Start Small
Targeting
certain markets also applies to geography. When making a marketing
campaign, choose certain geographic locations known to you. This will
help, as you may understand the culture and what sells well in that
city/state. Performing practical market research
is important BEFORE starting your auction site. You will be that much
more successful, and by planning ahead, you will find profitable niche
markets that have not yet been overridden in the penny auction industry.
It's
important to start small. No matter how well you plan ahead, there
will be unforeseen obstacles you may run into the first day/week/month,
and keeping it small at first will help to sustain the site while you
"work out the bugs." Remember the statistic that 50% of all businesses
fail within the first five years. With penny auction sites, we believe
this statistic is expedited, that is, 50% of all auction sites fail
within the first five months. So, it's important to keep thinking big,
but start small, and 'feel' the market out.
Make sure
you also target certain markets. Don't try and sell everything at
once, or just the items that are small net profits (i.e. gift cards and
bid packs). Some of these sites have a certain target in mind (i.e. Penny Purses or Penny Laptop). The age old saying, "If everyone is your customer, then no one is your customer," rings true for this industry as well.
Down Low on Private Penny Auctions
Many sites offer private auctions (Biddingyard.com, eMaja.com, BidPigs.com). First, what is a private auction?
Private Auction:
Private auctions limit that amount of bidders that can participate in that auction.
How do you participate in a Private Auctions?:
Private auction rules vary site to site. At some sites it is free to participate, first come first serve if you will. At other penny auction sites you must use bids to secure a seat in the private auction. The participation cost might also vary auction to auction.
Why participate in a Private Auction?:
Since there are a limited amount of bidders, there are less members to compete with. Less competition means a great chance of winning.
Why should you not participate in a Private Auction?:
Private auctions usually attract experienced bidders. If you are not an experienced bidder, you should focus on open auction until you become experienced.
